Ok, I don't know much about plumbing, but I do know that it is suposed to be a sealed system.
Apparnetly the hammering that I heard was my manager trying to get the cap off, but it was stuck. Finaly it broke off. That was Sunday.
Well, we where comming home from dinner (very nice, Italian, I had the raviole with pesto, Bok had a mushroom and linguinee (sp) concoction and lots of the house red) when we noticed that the carport under us was wet, and had all of this paper... Oh YUCK!!!
He did not fix the pipe, or tell us that is was broken. Think of how many showers you have taken synce sunday night. Now think of how many times you flushed the John.

The first time I learned that every drain meets up with every pipe from every toilet which meets up with every sewer line in the city, it really freaked me out.
It was around then that I learned that the only thing that keeps massive amounts of sewer gas from stinking up your environment is that cool hook the pipe does under the sink, it totally freaked me out.
But you don't really experience any of this until you've changed out a toilet yourself, and taken some time to peer down the sewer pipe just when someone else was running some water.
The line between us and the harsh realities of nature is very very thin, and that curve in the pipe crosses it.
